Multiplayer Tips & Tricks for GTA 6 Online

June 14, 20264 min

Speculative content. GTA 6 has not been released yet. This tip is based on official trailers, leaks and community speculation. Mechanics, figures and locations may differ from the final game.

Dominate GTA 6 Online with these multiplayer strategies — from early grinding to endgame crew coordination and PvP tactics.

GTA 6 Online: First 48 Hours

The multiplayer's first hours are the most brutal. Veterans will target you. Here's how to survive and get ahead fast.

Immediate Priorities (Rank 1-15)

Don't Flash Your Money

Carrying large amounts of cash makes you a target. Deposit frequently at ATMs or virtual banks available on your phone.

Join a Crew Immediately

Solo players earn 20% less and respawn in exposed positions. In a crew:

  • Respawn next to teammates (protected)
  • Mission payouts include crew bonus (+15%)
  • Other players are less likely to attack (crew reputation system)

Finding a crew: The in-game crew finder or the Social Club app. Look for crews with 50+ active members and regular events.

Money-Making in Online Mode

Fastest Early-Game Methods

Method Earnings/Hour Risk Unlock
Contact missions $50,000 Low Rank 5
Adversarial jobs $80,000 Medium Rank 10
Heist setups $150,000 High Rank 15
VIP work $200,000 Medium $1M in bank

The Contact Mission Loop (Rank 5-15)

The most efficient early grind:

  1. Call Martin Madrazo from your phone
  2. Accept whichever mission he offers
  3. Complete as fast as possible (speed bonus)
  4. Repeat — missions refresh every 5 minutes

Average earnings: $45,000-65,000 per 20-minute session.

PvP Combat Strategies

Passive Mode vs. Free Roam

Use Passive Mode when:

  • Transporting goods (business runs)
  • Recovering from a bad session (mental health reset)
  • Setting up before a big heist

Never use Passive Mode during missions — it's disabled anyway and the habit makes you careless.

Countering Common Griefing Tactics

The orbital cannon: Expensive to use, can be countered by:

  • Staying in a building (can't target indoors)
  • Using a submarine (underwater, undetectable)
  • Triggering a mission start (grants temporary immunity)

The oppressor bike (if in game):

Counter: Use a fighter jet or attack helicopter
         Ground vehicles = easy targets
Staying in dense urban areas limits their missile lock

The modder: Sadly unavoidable. Report immediately and move to a different session (ESC > Online > Find New Session).

Heist Coordination

Role Specialization

Successful heist crews assign roles by strengths:

Role Skill Needed Best Class
Driver Racing experience Fast cars, bikes
Shooter Combat accuracy Heavy weapons
Hacker Memory games Any
Coordinator Map knowledge Experienced player

Communication Rules

Even with randoms, use simple pings:

  • Triangle/Y = "I need backup here"
  • Down on D-pad = "Enemy spotted"
  • Double tap horn = "Abort / fall back"

Session Management

Finding a Low-Population Session

A public session with fewer players means less griefing and more NPC content:

  1. Open your phone, go to Online options
  2. Find a new session multiple times until you get one with 5-10 players
  3. Start your business runs immediately — session is usually grief-free

Creating a Private Business Session

If you need to grind without interruption:

  • Invite-only session: Only you and friends, no randoms
  • Payouts are identical (contrary to myth)
  • No CEO/MC Business raids from other players

Endgame Content

Once you've accumulated $5M+, the game opens significantly:

  • Nightclub: Generates passive income from all businesses
  • Arcade: Front for the Diamond Casino heist
  • Kosatka submarine: Required for Cayo Perico heist (best in game)

The Cayo Perico Heist can be completed solo and yields $1.1M-$2.2M per run — the best money-per-hour in the game at endgame.
