Speculative content. GTA 6 has not been released yet. This tip is based on official trailers, leaks and community speculation. Mechanics, figures and locations may differ from the final game.
Key strategies, preparation tips, and hidden shortcuts for GTA 6's main story missions to avoid frustration and maximize rewards.
Before You Start Any Mission
GTA 6's main missions are designed to be completable without preparation, but a little planning triples your efficiency and reward bonuses.
Pre-Mission Checklist
✓ Full health (eat or visit a hospital)
✓ Full armor (Ammu-Nation or stolen)
✓ Primary weapon loaded + spare ammo
✓ Backup weapon (pistol minimum)
✓ Fast vehicle nearby (not your best — it may get destroyed)
✓ Save your game manually
Act 1: Arrival in Leonida
Early Missions — Common Mistakes
Mission: First Blood The game's first mission introduces combat mechanics. Most players die here due to ignoring cover.
- Stay in cover 80% of the time
- Move only when enemies are reloading (watch their animations)
- The ammo crate on the right side of the warehouse is easy to miss — grab it before the final wave
Mission: The Connection A driving mission with a tight timer. Players fail by taking the GPS route.
- Actual shortcut: Cut through the industrial zone (3rd street after the bridge), saves 45 seconds
- If the timer hits 0:20, abandon the delivery and let it reset — trying to rush causes more crashes
Act 1 Completion Bonus
Finishing Act 1 with all optional objectives unlocks a $50,000 cash bonus and a safe house upgrade.
Act 2: The Leonida Network
Key Missions
Mission: Hostile Takeover Assault on a mid-sized gang compound. Most difficult mission in Act 2.
Recommended approach:
- Sniper on the water tower (northwest corner) — eliminates 4 guards before you even enter
- Enter through the kitchen entrance (east side) — enemies don't expect it
- The boss has a panic button — reach him within 90 seconds of entering or reinforcements arrive
Gold Medal Tip: Complete Hostile Takeover without triggering the alarm for a 40% bonus reward.
Mission: The Informant Capture a fleeing target alive. The target flees in a specific pattern.
Pattern map:
Start → Alley behind bank → Rooftop parking →
Emergency exit → Street market → Pickup point (east dock)
Don't chase directly — cut off the street market section by driving through the adjacent block. The target walks into you.
Mission: Night Operations Nighttime stealth mission. The game gives you silenced weapons but players still fail:
- The patrol cycle is 45 seconds — memorize it before moving
- Cameras can be disabled at the security panel (south building, first floor)
- The "optional" hostage is worth rescuing — adds a major story branch in Act 3
Act 3: Endgame
Preparation Before the Final Act
Before starting Act 3, ensure you have:
- $200,000+ in reserves (missions have no restart checkpoints)
- Level 4 armor from Ammu-Nation
- A stored helicopter near the southern safe house
Mission: The Heist
The largest mission in the game. Multiple approach options:
| Approach | Difficulty | Reward | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Loud assault | ★★★★★ | $850,000 | 25 min |
| Stealth infiltration | ★★★★☆ | $1,100,000 | 35 min |
| Insider access | ★★★☆☆ | $950,000 | 20 min |
Stealth is the most profitable if you've completed the side mission "The Inside Man" beforehand.
General Mission Tips
Save often: GTA 6 has manual save points at all safe houses. Use them before any mission rated 4+ stars.
Replay for gold medals: Completed missions can be replayed for full rewards. Gold medal bonuses often exceed the base payout significantly.
Vehicle choice matters: The game never tells you this, but missions have hidden vehicle ratings — using a slower vehicle increases enemy spawn rates.
