Advanced techniques to lose the cops fast and keep your wanted level low.
Understanding the Wanted System
GTA 6's star system is more sophisticated than ever. Police now use a dynamic witness system — nearby civilians can report your position in real time.
The Search Exclusion Zone
As soon as you get stars, a red circle appears on your minimap. The goal is simple: exit that circle and stay out of sight.
Golden Rules
- Don't drive in a straight line — police predict your trajectory
- Switch vehicles as soon as possible
- Enter a covered parking garage — drones struggle to track you
- Cut the engine in a dark alley to shake helicopters
Techniques by Star Level
1-2 Stars: Simple Escape
Drive at full speed for ~90 seconds while changing direction every 15-20 seconds. That's enough to exit the search radius.
3 Stars: Change Your Identity
- Change clothes in an apartment or store
- Respray your vehicle at Los Santos Customs
- Or use a safe house to let time pass
4-5 Stars: Bunker or Sea
Option A — Bunker: Get to your main hideout. Police can't follow you inside.
Option B — Ocean: Dive underwater. Police boats are slow and helicopters lose your signal beyond 10m depth.
Secret Hiding Spots
- Vice City Port: containers block helicopter line-of-sight
- Everglades: dense vegetation makes nighttime detection nearly impossible
- Leonida City Tunnels: no radio coverage = no drones
Never pay off stars with in-game money — it's a trap. You'll lose your cash AND the wanted level won't clear if witnesses are still nearby.
