Living Ecosystems
GTA VI introduces the most detailed wildlife system in the franchise's history, driven by the Everglades setting. This is a natural evolution of Red Dead Redemption 2's animal system.
Confirmed Animals (from Trailers)
Reptiles
- American Alligators — Visible in swamp scenes, attack if provoked
- Florida softshell turtles — Environmental detail
Birds
- Great Blue Herons — Wading in shallow water
- Pelicans — Coastal, dive-bombing fish
- Flamingos — Icon of Florida kitsch, present in certain zones
Marine Life
- Manatees — Visible in coastal waterways
- Sharks — Ocean, triggered by extended swimming
- Dolphins — Coastal waters, no threat
Behavior System
Animals react to player presence:
- Gators become aggressive when cornered or in their territory
- Birds scatter when a vehicle drives through them
- Wildlife population varies by time of day and weather
Hunting
Jason's background suggests hunting mechanics are central. Animal skins and meat may serve in-game purposes — trading with NPCs or crafting survival items.
